Write An Effective Job Proposal

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

I am simply amazed at the problems some of my colleagues are experiencing regarding writing job proposals for customers. So often I hear that there has been some sort of disagreement between client and service provider, something that can and should be avoided before a project is started. Here are four tips to help you write an effective job proposal letter.

Assume Nothing My junior high English teacher gave his students the real meaning of assume: if you assume something it makes an ass out of you and me: ass-u-me. Leave nothing to chance. When you speak with a client do not assume they understand much of what you have to offer. For instance, I sell website packages. I have learned to spell out everything that I will offer to my customers for a very specific price. If there are any “gray areas” I protect myself by telling customers that certain other expenses will be billed separately. Do not box yourself into a corner and do not pull surprises on your customers as they may think you are trying to cheat them. Keep the lines of communication wide open.

Get It In Writing Save all of your email correspondence with clients including emails you send and emails you receive. Sometimes what is not said verbally is articulated in writing. For example, I write much better than I speak, therefore I am more likely to put my ideas forth via “ink” or “type” than I am to verbalize them. In either case follow up your contact by placing everything in writing. You will need that paper trail in case something goes wrong e.g., a refusal to pay for services rendered.

Make Changes, If Necessary Sometimes projects change as the work goes forward. If it is a minor change, such as cropping a few extra photographs, you can probably “eat” the additional labor. However, if your project increases in size, let’s say your clients now want a 12 page website instead of an 8 page site, they need to know that you need to be compensated for the extra work. Specify in your proposal letter that any changes to the project will incur additional charges; remind them of this “clause” should any major change be proposed. Your customer may decide not to go with the larger project after counting the additional costs.

Write a Contract I have done fairly well without contracts. Many of my customers know me quite well, therefore the proposal letter serves as a contract of sorts. I also require my customers to pay me 50% as an advancement; if they walk away from the contract upon completion of my work their website does not get uploaded to the internet. At the very least I have partial compensation for my hard work. Your experience or risk factors may be much different than mine; certainly use contracts if your customers are not well known to you or you do not have a previous business relationship.

In summation, every satisfied customer is a potential referral for new business. Keep those communication lines open and understood and you will garner additional projects because of your sound business practices.

East Meets West Through Buddhist Institute

Friday, February 27th, 2009

The existence of a Buddhist organization in an Eastern European country may seem surprising. But Buddhism has come of age in the secularized West. Its reach is expanding beyond its original Eastern context and Hungary’s East-West Research Institute is bringing this worldview to the rest of the globe.

Although Hungarian culture is largely influenced and informed by Christian values and perspectives, many Hungarians “have a traditional interest in Eastern cultures, because they are thought to have come from Inner Asia,” said Tamas Agocs, director of the institute.

This may be why the only state-accredited Buddhist institute of higher education in Europe, the “Gate of the Dharma” Buddhist University, was founded in Budapest in 1991.

The university subsequently established the East-West Research Institute “to provide framework and conditions for scientific research into the possibilities of Buddhist education and the dissemination and application of Buddhist principles in the country,” said Agocs.

As globalization continues to make the world smaller, participants strive to increase the dialogue between the “East” the Asian cultures that have been shaped by Buddhist thought and the “West” the modern, scientific cultures that originated in Western Europe. With this goal in mind, they also work towards making the values of Buddhism known in the West.

Without forsaking the integrity of Buddhist views, values and practices, Agocs said their goal is “to enter the East-West dialogue not just in order to find interesting parallels and differences between Eastern and Western discourses, but with a view towards the constructive and creative application of Buddhist principles in all walks of life.”

According to Agocs, the open attitude of Buddhist thought is the ideal starting point for furthering the science-and-religion discussion.

“Buddhism shares many methods with Western science. They both emphasize the unbiased examination, thoughtful analysis and critical testing of experience,” said Agocs.

However, the direction of the approach is different, he said. “The basic difference is that Buddhist inquiry is directed mainly inwards, towards the consciousness, while scientific research is mostly targeted outside.”

In addition to participating in the science-and-religion dialogue and organizing conferences on the intersection between the East and the West, the institute promotes research on the study of the Buddhist tradition and explores Buddhism as an applied science that can provide answers to challenges faced in the world today.

Current programs include the Milky Way project, which is establishing a Buddhist school. The institute is also sponsoring research on the mind and the application of Buddhist mind training methods to psychology and community building. Eventually, Agocs said he would like to build cooperative relationships between the center and other international organizations for interdisciplinary research projects.

Energy Enhancement The Shiva Lingam Meditation And The Trinity the Antahkarana, and Connection

Friday, February 27th, 2009

The Shiva Lingham and Yoni come from the India and the Ancient, 5000 years old Hindu religion. It is a meditation, inscribed in Stone which is at the heart of every Hindu temple. It is a meditation inscribed in stone whose meaning has been lost in history but which is now taught in Energy Enhancement.

The Shiva Lingham and Yoni is a 5000 year old sculpture, a diagram, a key which describes the natural flow of energy between man and the energies of the universe. How energy comes from heaven, the Spring at the top of the mountain, the Center of the Universe, through a human being, a purified human being with no energy blockages, illuminated, enlightened, and down into the Kundalini chakra in the center of the earth.

There, in the chakra in the center of the earth, the negative energies are transmuted and healed and importantly, the direction of the energy is changed, rectified, and then travels up through the human being again from the center of the earth and up into heaven. This is the Macrocosmic orbit of Alchemical Taoism and also the Kundalini Kriyas.

The base of the Shiva Lingam, the Yoni, looks like the Sufi Alhambra Fountain fountain in Granada, Andalusia, Spain where the center represents the center of the earth. These two sculptures from two completely different countries and cultures separated by thousands of years and miles show how these universal principles are again and again brought into the cultural mix of humanity for their evolution.

The Shiva Lingam (Male Genitals) takes the part of the upwelling water of the fountain and represents the Antahkarana. In ritual worship, milk is poured over the Shiva Lingam representing the descent of energy from the Center of the universe into the center of the Earth. It comes out of the Yoni (Female Genitals) which symbolise the earth and the antahkarana through the yoni spout shooting spiritual energy out of the center of the earth like the water of the fountain comes out of the Alhambra fountain into the pool through the Antahkarana channel and up into heaven, the pool, the ocean of bliss

This represents the change in direction of the energy which occurs in the center of the earth and shoots the energy back from earth to heaven. This is the Taoist Macrocosmic orbit, a guided meditation which has so many benefits and which is taught in Energy Enhancement.

The secrets of Energy Enhancement on the nature of the energy flows of the universe and humanity come from deep and ancient sources.

The parallel processor model of a human being. Super Computers gain speed through the number of processors connected. Each Chakra is a processor gaining more intelligence the higher they go. As more processors are connected, so a human being gains more wisdom. The communication bus connecting the chakras together in a man, and with the energies of the earth and the universe itself is the Antahkarana.

As my Master Roshi Hogen says “The spring at the top of the Mountain.” is heaven. All energy comes from this. It is the chakra in the center of the universe whose energy powers everything.

Illness is caused by a lack of energy. We can only heal ourselves when we learn to fill ourselves with energy by these methods of getting rid of the blockages to this energy flow, the energy blockages in you!

Energy is a glow. Energy is beauty. Energy is health. Energy is happiness. Energy is concentration and memory and your ability to respond. Learn practical methods to access these Infinite Energies. Gain Energy!

This Initiation is the most important Initiation of Energy Enhancement. Other Initiations teach us about the Negativities and attitudes which stop this highly Energetic Soul Connection. Other Initiations teach us how to use this Higher energy in the correct way.

In this Initiation we learn Methods of Accessing the Infinite Energy of the Higher Mind. Easy and practical meditations based upon Ancient Methodology of 200,000 years duration whose track record of success is greater than any other system!

By accessing this energy we get in touch with our Intuition, our Direction, our Soul Path.

Put Everything In Its Proper Place.

Feeling the orgasmic Higher Energies from the Connection to chakras above our heads makes us understand that everything else in our lives is good… but not that good!!

“Connect, Only Connect”, Said Goethe.

The Higher Energies Rule.. Ok!!

We access the energies of Initiation which take us ever Higher.

Introduced in 1956 as Data Storage

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

HDDs (introduced in 1956 as data storage for an IBM accounting computer) were originally developed for use with general purpose computers. In the 21st century, applications for HDDs have expanded to include digital video recorders, digital audio players, personal digital assistants, digital cameras and video game consoles. In 2005 the first mobile phones to include HDDs were introduced by Samsung and Nokia. The need for large-scale, reliable storage, independent of a unique device, led to the foundation of embedded systems such as RAID arrays, network attached storage (NAS) systems and storage area network (SAN) systems that provide efficient and reliable access to large volumes of data.
Hard drives put data wherever there’s a physical space on any of the platters that’s large enough to hold the binary in question. Once the data is thin down into small chunks called blocks, the file system (like FAT32 or NTFS) records where those blocks have been placed, and should they get shuffled around, where they have gone.
It’s easiest to imagine that a hard drive is a big filing locker with a master index on the side that lists where every page of every document is stored. A hard drive might not put all the pages in the same drawer, but instead you can read the index and see what drawer each page is saved in.
Unlike traditional platters which are, when compared to flash memory, extremely slow due to their mechanical nature, solid-state disks use NAND flash memory to store information. SSDs feature very fast burst read/write speeds, which are periods of disk activity that are much faster than normal due to data being physically close and easy to recover. On the other hand, they are slower than today’s hard drives for writing progressive bunches of information, a process recognized as sequential writes. Though, due to the nature of a user’s interaction with their PC, a majority of the accessing done on a hard drive is data reading, which SSDs are twice (Or more) as fast at as traditional hard disks.
Also, due to a complete absence of moving parts, SSDs have greatly increased longevity and reliability. The downside to these drives, despite all their amazing benefits, are very high cost per megabyte of capacity, and their low capacity. It is unfortunate that both these traits are what will really stop a consumer from adopting a technology that is superior. There can be no doubt that SSD is the future, but that future is assuredly not now. However, in light of the low capacities and high prices, the technology still has enough merit to be featured in new notebooks arriving in 2007. Reduced power consumption, reduced heat and a long battery life spells great success for this technology in the mobile arena.
What’s Stopping You?

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

We’re all familiar with the cycle:

 1. We want new, but resist change.

 2. We want satisfaction, but procrastinate.

 3. We want control, but defer to circumstance.

So, what’s stopping *you*?

A belief?

“I’m an incurable procrastinator, I’ll probably be late to my own funeral.” Beliefs like this dictate your thoughts, and your thoughts turn into action — or in this case, *inaction*. Consciously turn those thoughts into something that can help you, not hinder you.

A habit?

While it seems too simple to actually have impact, success on any goal boils down to a good habit. If you eat well and exercise, you’ll be successful with a healthy lifestyle. If you don’t control your spending and put aside some for emergencies, you’ll conversely end up with financial woes. Do you habits help you or hurt you?

Easier not to do?

This is probably the most common stopper. “Sure, I’d love to have my own business, but…”. Change is not easy. No matter how small a change, you will feel uncomfortable at some points. We all know this, and sometimes it’s just easier to live with the ‘familiar unhappiness’ than to push through the inevitable uncomfortable feelings. Anticipate the feelings, and be ready to push through the change until it becomes a part of you.

Fear?

What if I’m not happier? What if I fail? What if I make a mistake? While the buzz words are “fear of failure”, often the more concrete reason is fear of looking silly or ignorant, or — gasp! — uncool. But without being able to accept failure, and possible even some ridicule while you learn, you are dooming yourself to the rut you are in. The same way a toddler has to fall over and over before he gets it right, you too will have to be willing to fall down, get up, and try and again.

So what can you do about these stoppers?

 1. Minimize its impact in your life: Find, create, and set up the emotional, mental, or physical support you need.

 2. Change it: Take a hard look at your daily habits. Are they contributing to what you want out of life? You can practice daily bad habits or daily good habits. It’s truly your choice.

 3. Neutralize it: Turn the negative message into a positive choice. “Maybe I am a procrastinator, but that’s not something I’m born with like blue eyes. I can still control my brain, and make my choices on what I want, not on what a procrastinator might do.”

Remember This: The *only* difference between you and the people who are getting what they want in their lives is that they kept trying, kept learning, kept asking and negotiating and exploring — kept moving forward, one step at a time. Get Moving!

Improve Your Prostate Well-being Naturally

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

BPH, or benign prostate hyperplasia, is a routine medical phrase for an enlarged prostate. In simple terms this actually means the prostate gland, a mass similar in size to a walnut situated just under the bladder and wrapping around the urethra, enlarges this can compromise or stop the stream of urine. As males age, their prostatic gland grows and as a result can result in symptoms for example micturition problems, reduced urinary stream, and even the holding of residual urine within the bladder. Too frequent urination during the night and even continual urinary tract infections are some further problems which may result from an enlarged prostate.

Benign Prostate Hypertrophy – Available Treatments: — A swollen prostate is supposed to be a frequent problem of males in their sixties. A yearly testing is suggested for men in their 50’s and beyond, even if no problems are detected, to aid in maintaining better prostate gland wellness. An alpha blocker and drugs which shrink the abnormal prostate gland are often given to improve prostate gland wellness, but medicinal drugs often have negative side effects so what alternative options are available? Problems with a Swollen Prostate Gland? Trimming Down the fat in the diet may improve symptoms, so will getting more excercise more regularly, frequency of ejaculations to alleviate the pressure in the prostate, and avoiding periods of extended sitting. Unrevealed Hints for Negotiating Your Credit Card Debt

Secret Tips For Negotiating Your Credit Card Debt

Most people think that it is hopeless for a individual to negotiate their credit card debt with a credit card company because the company is not interested in working out a deal with the people that have their credit cards. The truth is that many of these credit card companies may be prepared to talk to you and work out some kind of payment plan for your debt because they would rather recoup some of the money that you owe to them easily instead of having to pay somebody to endlessly contact you about the debt and possibly not acquire any payments from you at all. There are a number of different things you should hold in mind when attempting to negotiate your credit card debt and keeping these things in mind may aid you a great deal in your pursuits.

When negotiating with your credit card company, it is essential that you are genuine about your debt situation. Credit card companies can be very forgiving when a individual has real hardships in their lives. Some credit card companies are now providing a type of insurance that allows you to stop payments if going through a personal crisis.

Another thing to think of when negotiating credit card debt is to be sure that you are addressing with the proper personel that has the authority to assist you. A lot of times you may be talking to a person who does not have the authority to negotiate your debt circumstance. Sometimes in this instance they try to differ you from attaining your goal by saying they can’t help you. Insist on speaking with someone in the company that can help you, if neccesary try and find a local branch where you can speak to somebody in person.

Always remember to be polite and respectful when speaking to your credit card company about negotiating your debt. It may be hard at times, but getting angry at them will only make matters worse. Being respectful to those trying to aid you is very essential for seeing any results. Remember, you want these people to help bring down your debt, not make things harder for you.

NLP: Your Pathway to Personal Success

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

As a certified NLP trainer, I am often asked, “What is NLP?”

The term NLP stands for neuro-linguistic programming and was coined in the early seventies by John Grinder, an assistant professor of linguistics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and Richard Bandler, a student of psychology at the university. They began their work by studying Fritz Perls, a psychotherapist and originator of the Gestalt school of therapy, Virginia Satir, a well-known family therapist and Milton Erickson, a world-famous hypnotherapist. Their intention was to model outstanding therapists and identify patterns in order that other practitioners could use these patterns to generate similar results. It may be said that NLP is about identifying excellence through an exploration of patterns, and then devising means for others to use those patterns to achieve similar results.

NLP also draws on earlier work, such as Ivan Pavlov’s conditioned reflexes (1904). In NLP this is called anchoring. NLP takes theoretical results developed by others and makes them available to you and me so we can improve our lives and well-being.

NLP is more than just techniques. It is a curiosity about how people who are high achievers accomplish what they actually set out to do. It is also a methodology that assists you in discovering those thinking and communication patterns that prevent you from being successful and shows you how to achieve the results of successful people. That is, NLP is a process of discovering the patterns of excellence of experts, and it makes these effective ways of thinking and communicating available for others to use for their own benefit or to assist others.

NLP had its origins in therapy and is now applied in all areas of human endeavor – education, health, sports, business and, perhaps most importantly, interpersonal relations.

Let us break down and analyze the terms neuro-linguistic programming.

Neuro refers to your neurology – sense organs. It is about how you absorb information. For example, you use your eyes to see things in your world. You also experience or perceive events through your other senses: aural (hearing), kinesthetic (tactile touch or emotional feeling), gustatory (taste) and olfactory (smell).

Linguistic refers to the language – pictures, sounds, feelings (kinesthetic), tastes, smells and words – that you use to remember and make sense of a particular experience (or to forecast a future experience). For example, can you recall your breakfast this morning? When you remember having breakfast, can you see a picture in your mind, or can you hear sounds (perhaps a radio was on or you were engaged in a discussion with your family)? What about tastes and smells? And how were you feeling – happy, tired, excited?

Think about a significant event in your near future. Do you envision yourself being successful? Or failing? The pictures, sounds, feelings, tastes, smells and words that you use to describe future experiences have a bearing on what actually happens. You do create your own reality!

Programming refers to your habits, patterns, programs and strategies. If it is a workday, do you follow a particular routine as you get ready for work? Perhaps you like to lie in bed an extra five minutes after the alarm goes off. Do you shower or bathe right away or have breakfast first? If you take time to look at what you do, I am certain you will see a pattern that you follow in getting ready for work. If for some reason you do not follow that pattern, do you find yourself feeling that something is missing?

You have patterns, habits, strategies and programs for everything you do. Some of these patterns serve you, but others do not – resulting in unwanted outcomes. You may be fully aware of some of your patterns. You may become aware of others only when someone else brings them to your attention. And you may choose to quickly forget about these patterns because you want to avoid addressing that part of your life. And there are still other patterns that you are not aware of at all, yet they continue to influence how you look after yourself, communicate with others and perform your daily tasks. If the patterns serve you – that is, generate positive results in your life – great! However, if you find that some patterns do not serve you, would it not be useful to identify those patterns and to change them so they work to your advantage?

Question: Who put your patterns, habits, strategies and programs in place? Of course, you did. So who can change them? Only you. But first, you must become aware that you run these patterns. This is one of the biggest benefits of NLP – becoming aware of the patterns, habits, strategies and programs that you have been running unconsciously and then using NLP techniques to change them in order to achieve the outcomes you desire.

Use Plastic to Get Discounts

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

There are many mileage reward cards on the market nowadays, including the Chase Travelplus card . If you’re a frequent traveler with good or excellent credit then one of these cards could be just what you need. They offer some excellent incentives including no annual fee and a low APR of 9.99%. Best of all, by using one of these cards to pay for your gas and airline tickets you’ll be rewarded with two miles for each $1 spent. You can also get mileage points when you pay for car rentals or accommodation from one of their recommended dealers. If you’re a regular business traveler you’ll soon accumulate enough points to be able to treat yourself to a well earned break.

You can also use your mileage card to buy cheap airline tickets , thereby getting the best of both worlds. Probably the easiest way to find the best deals is by going online and looking at one of the price comparison websites. All you have to do is type in the dates and times you want to travel and the database will bring up a list of airlines for you to choose from. At a glance you’ll be able to see who’s offering the best deals and who regularly provides the best customer care. You can also look out for special offers, and you may find a major airline is offering cheaper tickets than its low-cost competitors for a limited period. Before committing to anything it’s a good idea to look at a few of the customer reviews. They can be a deal clincher when two airlines are offering very similar fares but one regularly outdoes the other in terms of customer service. Just remember, by doing your research you’ll be able to grab yourself the best tickets available anywhere.
