Are We Spoiling Our Children Too Much?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Guilt is the Number One factor to blame for this situation says American clinical psychologist Diane Ehrensaft. The author of the book Spoiling Childhood: How Well-Meaning Parents Are Giving Children Too Much-But Not What They Need says parents today are often caught up in a guilt-driven pendulum, swinging between parenting too little and parenting too much. According to Ehrensaft we are giving too much freedom, material goods, and empty praise to our children in place of setting limits and giving guidance, time and love.

“We parent like Tarzan on a rope, wildly swinging from never being there enough to being there far too much,” Ehrensaft says, of modern parents who are caught in the juggling act of trying to have ‘it all’. Today’s parents are, she says, caught in the predicament of wanting to pursue their own needs and ambitions while at the same time wanting to give their children more opportunities and materialistic items than they themselves had. “It is a predicament for these professional, middle-class parents who have gone after what they have wanted - career, money, happiness - sometimes at the expense of their children’s well being, and yet who also act as if the sky is the limit for their children,” she says
the families that frequent the psychologist’s practice sound familiar.

Parents that work hard, yet help out with homework and organise after school activities for their kids’ five days a week. In these families children rarely help around the house and their demands are met with the least amount of resistance. Sounds like a scene from many homes- but where does the boundary between wanting to encourage our children’s growth and rearing potentially unsociable bullies begin to blur?

The word ‘discipline’ may cause some parents to break out in a rash, but according to psychologists it’s a necessary part of the parenting process. Parents in 2005 may want their children to be free spirited and more spontaneous than previous generations, but this doesn’t mean they don’t need their parents to act like, well, parents. Without firm parameters, authorities say children are forced to scream and whine, desperately looking for the reference point from which to grow and develop.

“Worrying about our children not liking us if we discipline them can prevent some parents from establishing firm structures for behaviour that our children need. We must stop abdicating the throne and accept our position as an adult,” Ehrensaft says. “Children do not do well with deposed kings and queens for parents. To be good parents, we definitely must give generously of ourselves, but never give ourselves over to our children,” she states.

Irish psychologist and founder of Rollercoaster.ie, Dr Anne O’Connor agrees. “Discipline is a very important part of parenting and is one which is usually learnt on the job. If your child learns that when you say no you mean it, you are teaching them a valuable lesson for life,” she says.
The Galway-based psychologist says many parents give into their kids’ demands because it’s so much easier to give in and buy whatever it is they want than to spend time explaining why they won’t buy it or deal with sulks when they don’t get it. However, such actions will have negative repercussions.

“You’re creating a child who will have totally unrealistic expectations of you and the world - they will expect to get everything they want. You can be sure that their requests will get bigger and more expensive as they become aware of all the goodies out there. While you may indulge your child’s wishes, the world just isn’t like that and your child may be in for a rude awakening when they encounter the many situations where they actually can’t have what they want,” Dr O’Connor says. The psychologist says that what children really want is to spend time with their parents, rather than being ‘bought off’ with gifts.

“‘Things’ just cannot replace your time. If children do not get the attention and input from you, among other things, they do not develop a sense of their worth. They may feel they are not worth spending time with. So even though you might be showering your little one with gifts their self esteem might be shrinking as their stack of toys grow,” she declares.
While parents should start saying ‘no’ to demands and tantrums, Dr O’Connor says they should reply a clear ‘yes’ to children’s’ request for their time.

“Make the time. Parenting isn’t about just getting through these years - you should be enjoying your child and what better way than to spend time with them. Discover what they like, allow them time to show off their new skills and knowledge, give them praise and encouragement,” she adds.
According to Ehrensafts the key to change lies in taking a look at the family dynamics and examining the way we treat our children. Children she says, are not miniature adults, and mustn’t be expected to grow up before their time. She insists that children need time to play and have free time to be with family and friends, in other words, enjoying childhood, while at the same time, relaxing in the knowledge that the grown-ups are running the show.

“Once you make the change you’ll not only have fewer battles with your children but you’ll also have more opportunities to truly enjoy being with them, and that’s what is most important,” Ehrensafts declares.

Where to Get Free Professional Debt Advice

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Now there are un-precedented numbers of debt advice organisations desperately competing with one another to provide debt advice free of charge. Such companies say they are able to provide free no obligation debt advice. The question is whether these businesses are giving the best value regarding the services they offer and the advice they offer?

The problem is that debt management companies are really trying to generate profit. Revenue is derived by passing debtors to other organisations or by collecting setup costs from credit companies. Because of this it is not easy to audit how effectively such businesses are really representing their customers. The major risk is that these debt advice organisations will actually give advice influenced by their own revenue instead of serving the best interests of their clients.

The unfortunate truth is most customers do not properly appreciate all the services with reference to debt consolidation and debt management in general. If debtors had a proper understanding then these customers would not require support from professional debt counsellors.

Debt counselling businesses are controlled by government bodies to try and ensure they are professionally qualified and properly manage individual confidentiality. Regrettably it is not possible to properly check or understand an advisers rational when giving free advice. The question is, how does a government agency find out whether debt advice was provided in the best interests of the client or if, instead the kind of services offered were skewed by the advisers own profit?

Finding honest and reliable debt advice can be time consuming. However, it is essential to shop around for such services. Consumers should not go with the first agency that offers them help.

Ecobuild - Exhibiting the Best In Green Building

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Green Building - the concept of building and construction that always keeps the environment in mind. It means using sustainable energy, constructing with materials like clay and wood, and reducing waste. The following year it moved to the larger QEII Conference Centre, and attracted more interest still. So from 2006 it has been held at Earl’s Court, and has doubled its exhibition size and attendance every year. It now claims to be the largest event in the world for the promotion of sustainable construction and design, with more than 800 exhibitors planned for the event in March of 2009. It is also expecting roughly 30,000 visitors.

Their website has this to say:

“Ecobuild is the green building event, the annual gathering of specifiers in the construction sector and the most effective marketplace for suppliers of green building products and services.

Its visitor audience reflects the complexity of the specification and procurement chain, with every professional discipline represented.

And its 800+ exhibitors represent the greatest breadth of innovative sustainable construction products anywhere in the world.”

The event boasts the latest and greatest advances and equipment for renewable energy, heating, insulation and water management, doors, windows and glazing, natural materials, recycling and waste management, and lighting.

This covers just a few of the areas exhibited and detailed at the event.

It also holds a number of attractions. One of the most popular is ‘Road to Zero Carbon’, which explains the best and most practical ways to reduce carbon emissions when building. As the name suggests, the ultimate aim is to a construction that is carbon free. In 2009, the attraction will expand, as the website also outlines:

“The Road to Zero Carbon will show the range of materials and systems which can be combined to achieve lower carbon buildings - SIPs, timber frame, steel frame, masonry, insulated concrete form work and natural materials constructed to create ‘real’ elevations with cladding, superstructure and insulation combinations, and windows and doors in place.

Comprising a series of external walls, each telling their own ‘carbon story’, the attraction will provide technical information on each structure’s performance against current and upcoming building regulations.

New for 2009! ‘Clad’ It illustrates the technical performance of a wide range of materials and systems, from timber and insulated render, through to brick slips, rain screen cladding and natural stone. Visistors can assess their performance in housing as well as non residential building settings, with products from Hambleside Danelaw, Kingspan Panels, Ibstock Brick, Alumasc, Saint Gobain Weber, BSW, Vincent, Finnforest on display.”

It seems that the best way to enter into green building, then, is to attend the Ecobuild annual event. Whether looking for advice on which of the existing companies suits best, or on green building yourself, the Ecobuild event has an extensive and well represented list of exhibitors, plus a number of seminars and attractions, making it informative and practical.

It’s never been easier to green build.

London Vacation: The Best Views from High Above London

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

If you want to get a bird’s eye view of London, there are several ways to “rise above” and take in the spectacular views of the landmarks, the skyscrapers and the river (not to mention the over 7 million people scurrying around). You’ll want to bring your best camera equipment to capture your memories.

First and most obviously, the London Eye is the newest and still one of the most popular tourist destinations in the entire city. Over 400 feet tall, this observation wheel (not to be confused with a ferris wheel, where people are suspended from open seats or cars) contains 32 air conditioned and fully-enclosed capsules. Rotating at less than a mile an hour, a full rotation or “flight” takes thirty minutes. The wheel moves slowly enough that it continues to move as passengers step onto and out of their capsules, but it will stop for elderly and disabled passengers. From the top, on a very clear day, you can see as far off as Windsor Castle - 25 miles away.

A basic ticket is £13 for adults and £6.50 for children. Booking via the Internet saves you 10%. If you have money to spend, skip the usually-long queues and take the “Fast Track” — £25 to cut right to the front of the line — or book a champagne flight or private capsule! There isn’t a more luxurious way to see the city.

If you’re looking for a less modern (and less expensive) way to see Big Ben and St. Paul’s from on high, perhaps a visit to Christopher Wren’s 1671 column, the Monument, is the way to go. At 202 feet tall, it’s the tallest freestanding column not only in England, but in the world. While the London Eye is air conditioned, the Monument’s viewing gallery is cooled by Mother Nature. Enclosed by bars instead of glass, you’re able to hear the sounds of London below. With admission running £2.00 for adults and £1.50 for children, there has to be a catch - and there is. Visitors need to climb a 311-step spiral staircase to get to the top. Once you have ascended and descended the Monument, the kind people of the City of London (who operate and maintain this tourist attraction) will give you a Certificate of Achievement.

For just £3.50 more per person, you can visit a third popular viewing area from which to take spectacular photographs of the city. The Tower Bridge Exhibition, along with providing a very interesting multimedia presentation about the building of the bridge in the 1890s, will give you access to the high-level enclosed walkways above the Thames. Unlike the half-hour London Eye experience, here you can take your time and look eastward and westward over the river and take pictures either through the glass or through specially-designed glassless windows. The ability for tourists to use these smaller windows is a definite benefit - no more flash reflections obscuring your views of London.

Finally, eight stories above the Thames you’ll find the Oxo Tower Bar, Brasserie and Restaurant. Depending on how much money you want or have to spend, you can enjoy a drink, a casual lunch or a romantic gourmet dinner - all with a gorgeous view of the city as seen from the South Bank. You definitely need to book in advance, but you can do so online from here in the States before beginning your vacation. This is a popular spot with visitors and locals alike, so make reservations early.

Regardless of how to decide to see the city, be sure to make time to visit one of these “high above it all” spots during your stay in London.

Exercise Intensity

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

“Physical Fitness”

Some physical activities (exercise) are not intense enough to help you meet the FDA recommendations for being physically fit. Although you are moving, these activities do not increase your heart rate, so you should not count these towards the 30 or more minutes a day that you should strive for.

The FDA recommends light physical activities (exercise) last 60 minutes per day for weight loss and maintenance. These include walking at a casual pace, such as while grocery shopping, and doing light household chores. Light physical activities (exercise) do little or nothing to strengthen or build muscles. This can actually result in a loss of muscle in your weight loss program.

The FDA recommends moderate physical activities (exercise) 30 to 60 minutes per day, or vigorous physical activities (exercise) 20 to 30 minutes per day for weight loss and maintenance, as well as physical fitness. You should engage in physical activities (exercise) at least 3 days per week, but 5 to 6 days per week is recommended.

We should also include some weight training in our exercise schedule. Muscle burns more calories than fat. Increase your metabolic rate by increasing muscle fitness.

Weight training also increases bone density, so as we get older, we do not become more susceptible to broken bones. Weight training can stop or even reverse many of the effects of aging. Being fit makes you look and feel younger.

Physical activity (exercise) simply means movement of the body that uses energy. Walking, gardening, briskly pushing a baby stroller, climbing the stairs, playing soccer, or dancing the night away are all good examples of exercise. For health benefits, physical activity should be moderate or vigorous and add up to at least 30 minutes of exercise a day.

Moderate physical activities (exercise) include:

Walking briskly (about 3 miles per hour)
Hiking
Gardening/yard work
Dancing
Golf (walking and carrying clubs)
Bicycling (less than 10 miles per hour)
Weight training (general light workout)

Vigorous physical activities (exercise) include:
Running/jogging (5 miles per hour)
Bicycling (more than 10 miles per hour)
Swimming (freestyle laps)
Aerobics
Walking very fast (4 miles per hour)

Heavy yard work, such as chopping wood
Weight lifting (vigorous effort)
Basketball (competitive)

Always consult your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

Lake Cumberland - Kentucky Wonder

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Located in central southern Kentucky, Lake Cumberland is one of the largest man-made bodies of water east of the Mississippi River and boasts more miles of shoreline (1255) than any other lake in the world. Within a days drive of most of Middle America, Lake Cumberland is considered a premier family vacation destination. For those seeking outdoor adventure, scenic vistas and peaceful surroundings, Lake Cumberland truly is the perfect place.

Nationally known for it’s bass and trout fishing and host to several annual tournaments, Lake Cumberland is an angler’s dream. Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass abound, as well as stripers which have been stocked here since 1951. For the trout fisherman, the entire Cumberland River is full of rainbow trout, brown trout and the elusive brook trout. Many of Kentucky’s record catches were recorded here, so your trophy is waiting.

In addition to prized fishing, Lake Cumberland offers house boating and a wide variety of water sports. Lake Cumberland is said to have more luxury houseboats than any other lake in the United States and nearby Monticello is the houseboat manufacturing capitol of the world. There are a host of full service marinas on the lake offering houseboat and pontoon rentals by the day or week. For those desiring a quicker pace on the water, ski boat and powerboat rentals are also available as well a personal watercraft. With over 63,000 acres of water, there is plenty of room for everyone. Cumberland below the falls and Big South Fork offer whitewater adventure that is sure to get your heart pounding. Local outfitters offer rafting as well as canoeing tours and kayakers flock to these rivers for their adrenaline pumping rapids.

Those desiring land recreation will find plenty of activities to choose from. There are many nearby golf courses offering everything from 9 hole par 3 to 18 hole championship courses. Lush vegetation, abundant wildlife, water features and rolling topography are showcased in all their splendor. Golfers of any level are sure to find a course to suit their level and style of play.

For avid hikers or those desiring a casual stroll in the wilderness, Lake Cumberland has an almost limitless network of hiking trails. Numerous trails of all lengths and difficulty levels adorn the shores of Lake Cumberland and the diverse topography of surrounding areas offer breath-taking vistas and panoramic views. The unique geographic features of the area will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression. Beaver Creek Wilderness Trails, Bee Rock Recreation Area, Rockcastle Narrows Trail, Yahoo Falls Scenic Area and The Daniel Boone Forest are just a few of the areas wilderness attractions. The Big South Fork National River and Recreation area is a 110,000 acre park with over 200 miles of trails and scenic railway. This is an absolute must see.

The Lake Cumberland area is steeped in tradition, and there are many sites nearby that are of historical interest. Carefully preserved and painstakingly restored, these destinations hark of days gone by and impart a true sense of nostalgia. In Monticello are the Wayne County Historical Society Museum and the Mill Springs Mill. The world’s largest in operation, this three-story grist mill grinds fresh corn meal that is available for sale in their gift shop. It sits above the lake shore with a scenic walk descending to the dock below. In nearby Sterns is the Barthell Coal Mining Camp and the Big South Fork Scenic Railway and outdoor museum. Located in Nancy are the Mill Springs Battlefield Park and the Mill Springs National Cemetery with memorial services open to the public.

Plan For Success

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Congratulations, you have made the decision to start a home-based
business on the Internet. This is the first step towards financial
independence for you and your family.

For a business to be successful, you will need to develop a complete
business plan. You will need to research the business that you plan on
joining. You will also need to set up a budget and work schedule.

When choosing the business that you want to pursue, you need to do some
research. There are 1,000’s of business opportunities on the Internet and
100’s of new programs coming out all of the time. Every one of them will
tell you that you will be successful. But lets face facts, if it was as
easy as they made it sound, everyone would be doing it.

The truth is, 95% of all Internet marketers fail. Why do they fail? The
majority that do fail, do so because of two reasons.

First, they tried to go into business without a workable business plan.
they sign up for a program, and start pushing out to everyone they know. A
lot of the time, they don’t even know much about the program or the
products. They just know that their sponsor told them they were going to
make a bunch of money, so they run with it. Do you think that IBM or Pepsi
started without a plan? I don’t think so.

A successful business must meet several criteria:

Is it a marketable product?

A legitimate business must have a marketable product to survive. Any
business depends on product sales.

Will I use the product?

You need to choose a business that has a product that appeals to you. It
is much more difficult to market something you don’t use or believe in.

Can I teach someone else how to duplicate my efforts?

If you can’t teach others how to duplicate your business efforts, how
can you expect to achieve success.

If your business can’t meet these three basic factors, you may need to
reconsider whether it is right for you.

Researching your business is an important part if the decision process.
The more informed you are, the better decision you can make. Talk to the
person who presented the business to you. I suggest speaking on the phone
or through a live chat on the Internet. It is difficult to get to know
someone via email. Try to communicate with their sponsor, find out as much
information as possible. Go to one of the popular search engines on the
Internet, like http://www.google.com , and type in the name of the
business and you should get links to several other people’s websites who
are also involved in that business opportunity. Contact them and ask about
the business. Tell them you are thinking of joining and want to get some
good information. Make sure they understand that if you join, it will be
under the original person you spoke to. Try to get the true story and not
a bunch of hype.

The second reason for failure is lack of upline support. If your sponsor
gets you to sign up and then forgets about you, your chances of failure
increase dramatically. Stay in constant communication with your sponsor
until you are entirely comfortable with the business. If your sponsor
won’t help, try to contact their upline until you find someone to help.

Now it is time to put your business plan together.

The first thing you need to do is create a work schedule. No matter how
many hours a week you plan to devote to your business, write down a work
schedule. If you decide to work 10 hours a week, for example, decide which
10 hours you are going to work. Once you have a schedule in place, STICK
TO IT. This is YOUR business and you need to work the schedule. If you
have had a job, you were expected to work a certain amount of hours. This
is no different.

Next, you need to learn all about your business. Go to your website and
read every page and every word. I know this sounds very time consuming,
and it is, but it is very important. If you don’t know your business, how
can you properly present it to someone. Knowledge is power. Take notes if
you need to. Sign up for any training that is offered. Learn about any
promoting tools or systems that are available.

Next, you need to set up your monthly budget. This should include the
cost of the business, as well as an advertising budget. You should
definitely have some money put aside for advertising, no matter how
little. As with your work schedule, once you establish your budget, STICK
TO IT. If you budgeted $50 a month to spend on paid advertising, spend
it. I know that life will through things at you to make you have to change
directions, but this will be a key to getting your business off of the
ground.

The last thing I want to cover in this article is patience. Any
successful business will take some time to grow. Don’t become discouraged
because you aren’t making big money in the beginning. When you start your
business, make a commitment to work towards success for at least one full
year. Remember the old saying, “Rome was not built in a day”.

Bombed Out With Boomers? Your Package May Be The Problem

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Have you recently introduced a product for the 50+ market that
isn’t selling? Do you have a good product that you know is
marketable, but it simply isn’t moving off the shelves? Your
package may be the answer.

The first thing that you have to understand is that 70% of all
purchasing decisions are made instantaneously at retail. More
importantly, a consumer only allocates 2.6 seconds to deem your
product worthy of picking it up from the shelf. If you are
marketing to the 50+ generation there are even more important
considerations.

So, what is going to differentiate your product from your
competitor’s product? Putting a product into a generic package
and saying it’s for 50+ simply doesn’t work. You need to think
about and understand what this age bracket wants on their product packaging.

In order to speak to this audience, ask yourself these few
questions when you are doing the package design work.

Can this package be easily read?

Readability of a package is the number one consumer concern for
those over 50. Think aging eyes and why it’s important to be able to read what is inside. Several companies have already taken notice of this fact. Most recently, Revlon launched what it calls the first mass makeup line specifically for women over 50 and it has bigger print on the package. Good move.

Can this product package be easily used, held, opened or carried?

Manual dexterity diminishes with age, so if your products are
hard to use in their package you are missing an important
criteria for packaging products for over 50. This will continue
to be an increasingly important issue as our population gets
older. Add to that special consideration for people with ailments such as arthritis and it will compound the problem.
There are many ways to solve this dexterity issue. Get creative
about ways people can interact with the product. Most importantly compel them to pick it up.

Does this product create resonance?

Are you telling them they are old, over the hill, aging, graying
or other similar nomenclature? Forget it. This generation sees
themselves not only as 20 years younger but also as active adults with many fulfilling years ahead of them. So don’t talk down or indicate that your product is for someone who is old. Think about what will make them feel good about buying your product And WIIFM (What’s in it for me?) Its not enough just to say what you will do. You need to be able to demonstrate and prove that its true to create brand loyalty.

One more insight that you need to factor in to your package
decision. Contrary to popular belief the over 50 generation is
NOT brand loyal. They will change brands and products for a
products that fulfills their needs. So forget about the fact that they might have grown up on this brand. If its doesn’t satisfy they will change to a product brand that will.

Have you relished a vacation to Egypt?

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Have you relished a vacation to Egypt?
Since time memorial Egypt is deemed to be the land of mysteries and myths. Surprisingly Egypt is not blessed with the charismatic aspect of Mother Nature but it is paradigm of manual work at its excellence.

The Egyptian pyramids and other monuments, their ambience, art and architecture have notched a distinguished place on earth. Egypt is also known for its archaic civilization, the unique Egyptian culture and heritage and for the simplicity of Egyptians.

This hot land of deserts has always been wooing countless visitors every year. It has nestled something for people of all age group and from any profession. While almost every historian is intrigued by the Egyptian history and civilization that is one of the greatest ancient civilizations in the world today, for the engineers to it is no less thrilling to explore the wonders of the world here. A trip to Egypt is quite informative for the kids too. This is because Egypt best instantiates or is a perfect mirror to its past. A stroll in the streets of Egyptian cities will acquaint you with the work and other remains of different dynasties that reigned here. It is a lifetime experience to visit the land that was the pride of eminent rulers such as Alexander, Napoleon and Mohammed Ali Pasha.

If we navigate through the Egyptian cities we find that Egypt’s capital Cairo is the largest metropolitan in Africa. It is an ideal amalgam of ethnicity and modernity. From the age-old cupolas and minarets, vibrant markets to skyscraping buildings and pulsating nightlife, Cairo has it all. A wonderful feature of Cairo is that the luxury as well as the budget travelers can have a great vacation here. For while on the one hand there are simple and inexpensive accommodations on the other Cairo has quite a few excellent luxury resorts and hotels. The temple city of Amen-Ra is also a place worth visiting in Egypt. It lies near the village of Karnak and is home to the great Luxor Museum. People also come to see the magnificent Temple Complex of Amen-Ra and the Temple of the Goddess Mut, the wife of Amen-Ra. If you desire to see the coveted 13.5 meters tall well-dressed limestone statue of Pharaoh wearing a weatherworn crown, make a visit to the ancient city of Memphis. Besides this statue of Colossus of Ramses II the other lures of Memphis include a small Open-air Museum, the beautiful Alabaster Sphinx and the Embalming Site of Apis. The Site of Apis is famous for the sacred animal of god Ptah, the Apis bull that was mummified here prior to its being buried.

Not to forget are the globally acclaimed spectacular pyramids of Giza. The pyramids lie to the west of Cairo and their construction can be traced back to middle of third millennium B.C. You can observe these pyramids on foot or via camel ride. Visitors can also delight in the swimming, coral reefs and other underwater wonders at the popular Sinai Peninsula. Aqua adventures can also be enjoyed at Hurghada that lies on the south of Suez Canal. Hurghada is famous for swimming and scuba diving.

Give An Entrepreneur A Break

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Why do any of us choose to work from home? The answer to that question is as diverse as the individuals who call home their workplace.

For those of us who have chosen to market online, this question has many answers. But ultimately, everyone who works at home - online or off - has the same goal.

To make money.

For some reason, however, those of us who choose to do it online are often perceived as being greedy.

Let me elaborate.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve corresponded with several online colleagues who have indicated that they’ve actually been questioned or even criticized by individuals who feel it’s somehow “unfair” for them to ask for money in exchange for their information product.

As if that was some sort of crime.

Now, I suppose that the proliferation of scamsters online can indeed make people somewhat skeptical. That’s the reason that having a mailing list or newsletter is so important. There’s no question that marketing online does have an impersonal nature to it. And, if a consumer isn’t careful, he or she can be taken.

Another reason for this attitude, however, is that the internet is still perceived by some as a great gift that they are entitled to. That any information they want should be handed over to them without question - and without any compensation on their part.

Well, certainly a lot of information is online - if you are willing to spend months and even years (not to mention cold hard cash) to accumulate the knowledge and experience that those who have put these products together have done.

So why shouldn’t they be compensated for it?

If someone were to walk into a bookstore, stroll up to the checkout counter with a stack of books, and tell the clerk, “I want to get all these books, but I don’t want to pay for any of them,” you’d think they were nuts.

So I ask you - what’s the difference online?

Here’s one big difference - and one not at all favorable for the much-maligned online information marketer. Keep in mind that these same honest, reputable marketers who have put tremendous effort into producing their own products have offered their products with an unconditional money-back guarantee as well.

And when people ask for their money back (unlike in the offline world) they can get it WITHOUT RETURNING THE PRODUCT.

So who’s being scammed now???

I see changes - lots of changes - on the horizon for those who provide information products online. More and more of these individuals have their products on a secure site that denies continued access should the purchaser request a refund. I even purchased an ebook recently that uses a system which “locks” the book when a refund is given.

This is just as it should be.

Why should someone who has invested the time to create an information product and invested money to market it NOT be expected to be compensated for it?

No reason at all.
